Village People

About the game

Village People (VP) is a Nigerian-inspired social strategy and survival game about building a better life while everything, and everyone, seems determined to stop you. I wanted to create a game that feels unmistakably Nigerian. Not another game with African aesthetics slapped onto familiar mechanics, but something built around our humour, culture, superstitions, and shared experiences. Growing up Nigerian, you’ve probably heard someone blame their misfortunes on their village people. It’s our favourite explanation for everything from missing opportunities to inexplicable bad luck. I thought: What if your village people were real? And what if you could fight back?

Village People is a simulation game for Web, made by Noxenvah Studios (@shugardadddy) in Lagos, Nigeria, released in 2026.
